Do I need to bring a partner? Though a partner is an advantage at the ball, but please don’t let the lack of one keep you away! During the ball folks mix and dance with many different partners throughout the evening. Our dance Master Bob O’Brien does a wonderful job of teaching everyone how to dance, or at least makes it easy to follow the steps in a group dance. You may want to attend the free dance instruction held at two o’clock in the afternoon the day of the ball at the Auditorium.
| What if I really don’t want to dance? The ball is great fun to watch and there is always someone to visit with, come and join the festivities. |
What about children? Accompanied, supervised, well behaved, young ladies and gentlemen are welcome at the ball.
Must I be a NCWA Member? No, you do not have to be a member to attend the Ball. Please remember that this is a period Grand Ball. No modern attire, please dress appropriately for a lady or gentlemen of the 1860’s.

What shall I wear? Ladies, a ball gown suited for a Grand Victorian Ball is wonderful, and preferred. If you will not be able to obtain a ball gown, your best period dress is welcome. Gentlemen, a clean uniform, please leave swords at home unless you are part of the debutante sword arch. If you are a civilian; a tailcoat tuxedo in black, white shirt, white tie, white vest is top notch! You can find a tailcoat tux at a rental store.
Visit our Sutlers Main Street for resources for period dress.
Looking forward to seeing you at the ball!
